How to Put One App Preview Video in Every Language Without Uploading It 30 Times
Add a video in the Previews panel, choose which languages use it (every language by default), and upload alongside your screenshots. App Store Connect has no "copy to other languages" option, so AppShots uploads the same file for each. Videos are checked against length and size limits.
The problem
You made one App Preview video. Your listing has fifteen languages. App Store Connect has no way to say “use this video in every language”: each localization needs the video added separately. So you upload it fifteen times, wait for each to process, and one language is always missing at submission.
What AppShots does
The Previews panel (above the pages in the Layers tab) holds your App Preview videos for the project. Each video has a language assignment, and by default it’s every language. When you upload, AppShots sends the video to each assigned localization, so you don’t repeat the work. Where several languages show the same file, it’s uploaded once and shared.
Videos are project data, not layers: they don’t appear on the canvas and don’t affect exports.
Steps
- Open the Previews panel and import a video.
- Check the warnings AppShots shows (length, size, format).
- Choose the languages it applies to, or keep all.
- Upload to App Store Connect and include App Previews in “What to upload”.
- Wait for Apple to process. The run reports videos still processing; they show up in App Store Connect when transcoding finishes.
Limits to design around
- Up to 3 previews per language.
- Each up to 30 seconds (and not too short) and 500 MB.
- Format and resolution rules are Apple’s. Failures often show up at the processing stage, not on upload.
Practical tips
- Make the first seconds count. The store autoplays muted.
- Use a language-neutral video (no spoken words or on-screen text) if you want a single file to serve every storefront.
- Keep an eye on the processing state. A video can look uploaded and still be transcoding.
FAQ
What are the limits? Up to 3 previews per language, 30 seconds each, and 500 MB per video.
Does the video go into the .appshots file? No. Videos are kept alongside the project on disk, so autosave stays fast.
Why does it say “processing at Apple”? Apple transcodes each video after upload, which can take several minutes. It appears once that finishes.
Is it free? Importing and arranging is part of the app; uploading to App Store Connect is a Pro feature.
