How to Make App Store Product Page Header and Search Result Artwork (3840×1646, 3:2, 5244×2950)
In a custom-size project, add pages with the header (3840×1646), search (3:2, up to 3840×2560) or universal (5244×2950) presets. The universal page shows header and search crop guides and a shared safe zone, exports as PNG and uploads through the App Asset Library.
The problem
Beyond screenshots, the App Store now has extra artwork slots: a wide header for the product page and a 3:2 image for search results, or one big image that serves both. Each has its own size, its own crop, and its own safe area, so a design that looks great as a header loses its subject when it’s cropped to the search shape. Calculating crops in a general design tool is fiddly, and the file format rules are strict.
What AppShots provides
In a project with a custom canvas, pages can have their own size, like frames in Figma. The presets include:
| Preset | Size |
|---|---|
| App Store header (21:9) | 3840×1646 |
| App Store search result (3:2) | 3840×2560 |
| App Store universal asset (16:9) | 5244×2950 |
| App Store event card (16:9) / event details (9:16) | 1920×1080 / 1080×1920 |
Templates for “App Store header and search results” set these up for you.
On the universal page, the editor draws crop guides for the 21:9 header and the 3:2 search result, plus the safe area common to both. The guides help you design and are never exported.
Steps
- Create a custom-size project, or start from the header and search template.
- Add the preset page(s) you need.
- Keep your subject and key text inside the shared safe zone on the universal page.
- Export. The universal page is always PNG.
- To upload, use the top bar’s Upload, which lists what each page will be used for. A specific page fills its own slot first, and a universal page fills what remains.
Notes
- These sizes belong to custom projects. Device projects stay at their exact store sizes.
- Upload goes through the App Asset Library only, with no fallback.
- Pro is needed to upload. Exporting the files is free.
- Slots follow Apple’s reference data at upload time, so if a size isn’t accepted yet, the dialog tells you.
FAQ
What sizes are the presets? Header 3840×1646 (21:9), search result 3840×2560 (3:2), and a universal asset 5244×2950 that serves both.
Why does my universal page export as PNG when I chose JPEG? App Store Connect only accepts PNG for it, so those pages are always PNG.
Do crop guides export? No. They show only in the editor.
Can I upload them? Yes, with Pro, through the App Asset Library. They have no screenshot-set fallback.
