Down Round Privacy Policy
App: Down Round: Startup CEO Sim Last updated: 2026-09-20
Down Round is a single-player card game about running a startup. The whole game — every card, every illustration, every sound — ships inside the app, so it plays with no network connection at all. There are no accounts, no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no servers of ours for your data to travel to. This policy explains what the app handles and what it does not do.
Summary
- We do not collect your personal data. The app has no user accounts and we operate no servers that receive information from it.
- The app requests no iOS permissions. No location, no camera, no microphone, no photo library, no notifications, no contacts.
- Your saves and your Hall of Fame stay on your device.
- No ads. No third-party trackers or analytics SDKs. The app contains no networking code of any kind.
- Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Overview
Down Round (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a self-contained game: 326 cards, six chapters, ten endings, and 46 illustrations, all bundled with the app itself. Because everything is local, the app does not need to reach the internet to function, and it does not. The only network activity associated with the app happens outside it, inside Apple’s own App Store and StoreKit, when you make a purchase or restore one.
Data We Collect
We collect nothing. The app has no analytics, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising identifier use, and no telemetry of any kind.
iOS permissions
The app requests no system permissions. It does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, photo library, contacts, or notification access, because none of its features need them.
The app plays sound through Apple’s audio framework, but it only ever plays. Every sound effect and every note of the music is generated mathematically on your device as it plays — there is not a single audio file in the app, and the app never records or listens to anything.
Data you create
As you play, the app stores the following on your device:
- Your run in progress — the company you chose, your founder, the company name you typed, your four meters, which cards you have seen, and how far into the chapter you are, so you can close the app and come back to it.
- Your Hall of Fame — your finished runs, which endings you have reached, and which achievements you have earned.
- Your settings — the sound and music toggles.
- Your Bridge Loan balance — how many you have left.
The company name is a name you make up for a fictional company. Nothing in the app asks you for your own name, your email address, or any other detail about you, and there is nowhere in the app to enter one.
Purchases
Down Round is free to download. The first two chapters are free to play. There is one non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks the remaining four chapters, and two consumable in-app purchases for Bridge Loans. There are no subscriptions.
All purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit; the app itself contains no payment code, and we never see or store your payment details, your Apple Account, or your billing information. Those transactions are governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
The app checks whether you own the full-game unlock by asking StoreKit on your device at every launch. That entitlement is deliberately never written to disk by us — Apple’s receipt is the only source of truth, so a corrupted save file can never cost you a purchase you paid for. Your Bridge Loan balance is a count of consumables you have used, and that count is stored on your device.
How We Use Data
All processing happens on your device. Your saved run is used to put the game back exactly where you left it; your Hall of Fame is used to show your record, fill in your ending gallery, and apply the legacy bonuses your achievements have earned for your next run. None of it is used for advertising or profiling, and none of it is sent to us, because the app cannot send anything anywhere.
Data Storage
Your game data lives on your device and stays there. Saves and your Hall of Fame are written as ordinary files in the app’s private Application Support directory; your settings and Bridge Loan balance are stored in the app’s private preferences. All of it is inside the app’s sandbox, which no other app can read.
There is no iCloud sync and no cloud backup of your progress by us. If you have iCloud Backup or a local device backup turned on, your device’s own backup may include the app’s files, under Apple’s privacy policy and your own settings — that is Apple’s backup of your device, not a service of ours.
Sharing
We do not sell or share your data, and we have none to sell or share. Nothing leaves your device.
Third-Party Services
None. Down Round embeds no advertising networks, no analytics SDKs, no attribution or A/B-testing frameworks, and no third-party trackers, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. It contains no third-party code at all. The only Apple services involved are the App Store (for the download and app updates) and StoreKit (for in-app purchases and restoring them).
If diagnostics are ever added in a future version, they will be opt-in, and this policy will be updated before that ships.
Your Choices
- Turn sound and music on or off at any time from the title screen.
- Abandon a run and start over from the title screen.
- Delete everything by removing the app from your device. That removes your saves, your Hall of Fame, your settings, and your Bridge Loan balance. Your purchase of the full game is not deleted with it — reinstall the app and use Restore Purchases to get it back, because Apple, not we, keeps that record.
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing on our side to request, correct, or delete. If your jurisdiction grants you rights over personal data (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), those rights have no data of ours to apply to.
Security
Your data resides on your device and is protected by iOS’s built-in app sandboxing and whatever device protections you have enabled (passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, device encryption). We recommend keeping your device secured and up to date.
Children’s Privacy
Down Round is a workplace comedy rated 12+ and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app has in-app purchases, we recommend that parents use iOS Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions to manage purchasing on a child’s device. The full-game unlock supports Family Sharing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect new features or legal requirements. Any change will be reflected by the Last updated date above.
