How to Fix Light and Color: Exposure, Tone Curves and Color Mix in PhotoRepair
Adjust is a full set of on-device controls: exposure, contrast, brightness, highlights, shadows, saturation, vibrance, temperature, tint, sharpness, grain, halation, vignette, tone curves and a per-colour (HSL) Color Mix. It's free and doesn't use the daily AI edits.
The problem
The photo is flat, dark, yellow-cast or washed out, and the one-tap “auto enhance” of most apps either does too little or overdoes everything. Full manual control normally means a pro app or a subscription.
What’s in Adjust
- Light: exposure, brightness, contrast, highlights, shadows
- Colour: saturation, vibrance, temperature, tint
- Detail and effect: sharpness, grain, halation (a soft film glow), vignette
- Tone curves for precise control of contrast and colour
- Color Mix (HSL): hue, saturation and luminance by colour range
All free, all on-device.
A sensible order
- Exposure and contrast. Set the overall brightness.
- Highlights and shadows. Recover bright skies and dark faces.
- Temperature and tint. Correct yellow or blue casts.
- Vibrance before saturation. Vibrance protects skin tones.
- Color Mix for targeted changes (greener foliage, bluer sky).
- Curves for the finishing contrast.
- Sharpness, grain, vignette sparingly.
For old and faded photos
Raise contrast, pull the black point down with a curve, warm or cool the cast, and lift shadows. See restoring old photos.
Tips
- Compare often with the original.
- Avoid pushing everything. Small moves stack.
- Use a Filter first if you want a look, then Adjust.
FAQ
Do adjustments use my AI edits? No. Adjust runs on the device and is free.
What does Color Mix do? It shifts hue, saturation and brightness of individual colour ranges, such as making the sky bluer without changing skin tones.
Are tone curves included? Yes. You can shape the overall curve and per-channel curves.
