How to Fall Asleep to the Radio: Sleep Timer and Bedside Clock

TL;DR

Start a station, open the sleep timer and pick 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, or the end of the hour. Volume fades over the last 30 seconds; Add 15 minutes extends it. The clock face shows a big clock, what is playing and your next alarm, with no ads.

The problem

You like falling asleep to a station, but it keeps playing all night, wakes you at a loud ad break or drains the battery. And the phone on the nightstand lights the room.

Sleep timer

  1. Play a station and open the full player.
  2. Open the sleep timer and choose 15, 30, 45 minutes, 1 hour, 1.5 hours or End of the hour.
  3. Playback fades out over the last 30 seconds, then stops.
  4. Need longer? Tap Add 15 minutes.

A scheduled stop is reliable because the app is already running while audio plays.

Bedside clock

From the radio player open the clock face: a large clock, the station that’s playing and when the next alarm rings. It dims the screen without changing your system brightness. No ads are shown on it.

Combine with an alarm

Set the timer for tonight and an alarm for tomorrow. The alarm uses the system’s ring and a Listen tap to start the station.

Tips

  • Lower the phone’s own brightness and keep it plugged in overnight.
  • If you often fall asleep mid-show, pick 30 minutes.
