How to Send a PDF to PDFCrop from Files, Mail or Safari

TL;DR

PDFCrop adds an action to the Share sheet for PDFs. Choose it in Files, Mail, Safari or Messages and the PDF opens in PDFCrop ready to edit.

The problem

The PDF is a Mail attachment or a Safari download. Saving it to Files, opening PDFCrop and importing takes four extra taps, and you have two copies of the file afterwards.

Steps

  1. Open the PDF in Files, Mail, Safari or Messages.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. In the action row, choose PDFCrop. (First time: scroll right, tap More, and turn it on.)
  4. PDFCrop opens with the PDF imported. Crop as normal.

What happens behind the scenes

The share action hands the PDF to the app through a shared app container and opens PDFCrop. It only appears for PDF files.

Tips

  • Password-protected PDFs ask for the password when opened in the editor.
  • After export, use Share again to send the result onward.

FAQ

Which apps work? Any app that shares a PDF through the standard Share sheet, such as Files, Mail, Safari and Messages.

Is a copy made? Yes. The PDF is copied into PDFCrop’s storage so you can edit it later. Your original stays where it was.

I do not see the action. Scroll the action row in the Share sheet, tap More, and enable PDFCrop.

Can I also import inside the app? Yes. Tap Import PDF in the Projects tab.
