LingoAI Translate Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-25
Overview
LingoAI (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is a translator built to work on your device. By default, everything you translate stays on your iPhone or iPad: the app ships with its own offline translation model, needs no account, and does not upload your text. Version 3.0 adds an optional Cloud engine that you have to switch on yourself; this policy explains exactly what changes when you do, along with everything else the app processes and the choices you have.
Summary
- No account or sign-in. We never ask for your name, email address or Apple Account.
- The default engines (LingoAI Model and System) translate on your device. Your text is not sent to us.
- Cloud is optional and off by default. Only when you select it is the text you translate sent to our server to be translated by a third-party AI model. We do not store that text.
- The LingoAI Keyboard contains no network code. It never sends or stores what you type.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Pro and Remove Ads turn them off.
- Feedback you choose to send from Settings goes to our feedback server, together with the device details the form shows you first.
Data We Collect and Process
Text you translate on your device
- Text you type, paste, dictate, scan or import is translated on your device by the LingoAI Model (a translation model bundled with the app) or by the System engine (Apple’s built-in on-device translation).
- Translation history, saved presets, Relay conversations and Relay voice recordings are stored in the app on your device.
- None of this is uploaded to our servers.
- If the System engine needs a language pack, iOS downloads it from Apple. The download is handled by iOS, not by LingoAI.
Cloud translation (optional)
Cloud is off until you select it in the engine picker. While it is selected:
- What is sent: the text you ask it to translate, the source and target languages, the tone you picked (Match Source, Formal or Casual), and the quality tier. It is sent over HTTPS to our server at
ai.mzjpg.com, which runs on Cloudflare. - Who translates it: our server forwards the request through Cloudflare AI Gateway to a third-party AI model provider we choose. Today these are Nebius (DeepSeek models), Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (Qwen, DeepSeek and GLM models) and Google (Gemini models). The provider can change without an app update, and a request may be retried with another provider if the first one fails.
- What we keep: we do not store your text or its translation. Response caching and request/response logging are turned off on our gateway. Our operational logs record only non-content details, such as which model answered, how many tokens were used, how many credits were charged, and timings.
- What providers keep: each provider processes the request under its own API terms, and some may retain inputs for a limited time, for example for abuse monitoring. Please don’t use Cloud for text you would not want to leave your device. The on-device engines are always available for that.
- If Cloud cannot be reached, the app falls back to translating on your device.
Device attestation and Cloud credits
To keep the Cloud service from being abused, and to keep track of the credits you buy, the app uses Apple’s App Attest service to register your installation with our server. Our server stores:
- an App Attest key identifier and its public key, which prove requests come from a genuine copy of LingoAI;
- a random account identifier with your credit balance and whether Pro is active;
- a ledger of credit changes, keyed by App Store transaction identifiers (
transactionId,originalTransactionId, andappTransactionId). These make sure each purchase is credited exactly once and let your balance come back when you reinstall with the same Apple Account.
This data identifies an installation and its purchases. It does not identify you by name or contact details, and it is not linked to your translations.
LingoAI Keyboard
- The keyboard types without any special permission. Translating as you type needs Full Access, only because Apple’s on-device translator is not available to keyboards without it.
- With Full Access on, the keyboard reads the text in the field you’re typing in and translates it on your device with Apple’s engine. It contains no network code, so nothing you type leaves your device, and it does not keep a record of your keystrokes.
- The keyboard reads your keyboard settings (languages, sound and haptics) from the LingoAI app through a shared App Group on your device.
- In password fields, iOS always switches to the system keyboard, so the LingoAI Keyboard never sees them.
Microphone and speech recognition
- Voice input uses your microphone and Apple’s Speech framework. Depending on your device and language, Apple may process the audio on the device or on Apple’s servers under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive your audio.
- Relay voice messages are recorded and stored on your device.
Camera and photos
- The camera and any photos you pick are used only to recognize text on the device. Images are not uploaded or kept by the app.
Feedback and ratings
- The app may occasionally ask whether you’d like to rate it. It records anonymous, identifier-free events (such as “a translation was completed”) so that the prompt appears at a reasonable moment.
- If you send feedback from Settings, the form sends your message, your email address if you enter one, any screenshots you attach, and the device details shown in the form (such as device model, iOS version, app version and language) to our feedback server at
rate.mzjpg.com, which runs on Cloudflare. We use this only to reply to you and fix problems.
Advertising
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google and its partners may collect data such as device identifiers, IP address, coarse location and ad interactions to deliver and measure ads, under Google’s own policies.
- Where required by law, a consent form from Google lets you choose how your data is used for ads.
- Buying LingoAI Pro or Remove Ads turns ads off.
”Our Apps” in Settings
- To list our other apps, the app requests public app information from Apple’s iTunes Lookup API, using your App Store country and language. No personal data is sent.
Purchases
- Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. For Cloud credits and the Pro credit grant, the app sends Apple-signed transaction records to our server so the credits can be added to your balance, as described above.
How We Use Data
- To translate on your device, and in the cloud when you select Cloud.
- To credit purchases, keep your credit balance, and restore it after a reinstall.
- To protect the Cloud service against abuse.
- To answer feedback and fix bugs.
- To show and measure ads in the free version.
We do not use your translations to train models, and we do not build profiles of you.
Sharing
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- Cloud requests are shared with the AI model provider that translates them, through Cloudflare, only while you have Cloud selected.
- Ad data is handled by Google AdMob as described above.
- Otherwise, data leaves the app only when you share or export it yourself.
Data Storage and Retention
- On your device: history, presets, Relay conversations and voice recordings stay until you delete them or delete the app.
- Cloud text: we don’t store it.
- Credit account: kept so your balance and purchases stay valid. Email us to have it deleted; any remaining credits are lost when it is.
- Feedback: kept as long as needed to handle your report. Email us to have it deleted.
Your Choices
- Keep everything on your device: leave the engine on LingoAI Model or System. Cloud is never used unless you select it.
- Keyboard: turn Full Access on or off, or remove the keyboard, in Settings ▸ General ▸ Keyboard ▸ Keyboards.
- Permissions: manage microphone, speech recognition, camera and photo access in iOS Settings.
- Ads: buy Pro or Remove Ads, change your ad consent where offered, or limit ad tracking in iOS Settings.
- Your data: delete translations from History, clear Relay conversations, or delete the app to remove everything stored on your device.
Children’s Privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
International Users
Our servers run on Cloudflare’s global network, and AI model providers may process Cloud requests in other countries, such as the United States, the European Union, Singapore or China, depending on the provider. On-device translation does not transfer your text anywhere.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Changes are reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
