How to Switch Speed Units: km/h, mph, Knots and m/s (and Distance Units)

TL;DR

In Settings → Units choose Speed (km/h, mph, knots or m/s) and Distance (metric or imperial). Trips, charts, exports and the 0–100 timer follow your choice. All four speed units are free.

The problem

You drive in one country and rent a car in another, race a dinghy in knots, or follow a bike computer in km/h while your phone says mph. Mental conversion at speed is how you get a ticket.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Units.
  2. Speed: km/h, mph, knots or m/s.
  3. Distance: metric or imperial (kilometres or miles).
  4. Go back. The dial and every other screen update at once.

Where the unit shows up

The big speed readout, the max and average figures, trip history and charts, the speed-limit sign, the Live Activity, and the target of the 0–100 timer.

Tip

Set the speed unit and distance unit independently, for example knots with nautical-minded users who still want kilometres for distance.
