How to Export a Trip as GPX or CSV (Free)
Open a trip and use the export option to share it as GPX (route with timestamps, for mapping apps) or CSV (points with speed and elevation, for spreadsheets). Export is free and unlimited.
The problem
You want to overlay a drive on a map, check your top speed against a chart, or keep an archive that doesn’t depend on an app. Locked-in history in a single app is fragile.
Steps
- Open the Trips tab and select a trip.
- Choose the export action and pick GPX or CSV.
- Use the iOS share sheet to save to Files, AirDrop it, or open it in another app.
Which to choose
| Format | Best for |
|---|---|
| GPX | Google Earth, mapping and hiking apps, track viewers |
| CSV | Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets, Python or R |
Analysing in a spreadsheet
Open the CSV, sort by speed to find your maximum, plot speed against time for a chart, or compute average speed on a section by selecting rows.
Tips
- Name files with the date so you can find them.
- Back up important trips to Files; iCloud sync is for convenience, not an archive.
