How to Add a Weather Stamp to Your Photos

TL;DR

GeoCam looks up conditions for your location when the camera opens and stamps them into the photo. Weather needs a connection to refresh, but GPS does not. Pro adds a dedicated Weather Bar.

The problem

Weather is the detail you can never reconstruct. A month later you’ll remember roughly where and when a photo was taken, but not that it was 4 °C and raining, and that’s often the very fact that matters. A site report needs it to explain a delay. A travel diary needs it for the story. An insurer wants to know whether it was icy. Looking up historical weather afterwards is slow, and it’s for a town and a day, not the exact spot and moment.

What GeoCam does about it

When the camera opens, GeoCam gets the conditions for your current location and offers them as a stamp element. Add the weather element to your style and every photo and video you take carries the temperature and conditions of that moment.

Two layers of options:

  • In any style: a weather chip or weather tile among the geo elements, placed wherever suits the picture.
  • In Pro: the Weather Bar, a full band of conditions across the frame, for when weather is the point of the photo.

How to do it

  1. Open the camera and let it settle. Weather refreshes as it loads.
  2. Pick a style that includes weather, or add the weather element in the editor.
  3. Check the live preview shows temperature and conditions.
  4. Shoot. The values are burned into the image next to the location and time.

What to watch for

  • Needs a connection to refresh. If you’re in a basement, on a mountain or abroad without data, the weather may be stale or missing, even though GPS works. For anything where weather matters, check the preview before relying on it.
  • Set your units once. If you shoot for a client who uses the other scale, change it before the trip. See switching °C and °F.
  • Old photos don’t change. The stamp is part of the photo, so changing units later only affects new shots.
  • It’s the weather where your phone is. Not at a different site you’re describing.

FAQ

Where does the weather come from? GeoCam fetches conditions for your current location and refreshes them when the camera opens.

Can I show Fahrenheit instead of Celsius? Yes. Switch between metric and imperial and it applies to the stamp and the dashboard. See the units guide.

Does the weather stamp work offline? Fresh weather needs a connection. Without one, the GPS part of the stamp still works but the weather can be out of date.

What is the Weather Bar? A Pro layout that bakes the full conditions into a band across the frame.
